Classical Mechanics: The eternal well-spring

K.R. Rajagopal, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77845

The ideas espoused in the works of the Masters contain far reaching consequences that seem to have escaped the attention of those that followed, either in their entirety or at the very least their significance seems to have not been recognized and deliberated upon with the intensity that they deserve. A few of these interesting issues that have a bearing on both solid and fluid mechanics will be discussed.
