Flow and Heat Transfer over a series of In-Line Cylinders Confined in a Channel

Haitham Bahaidarah, N.K. Anand, and H.C. Chen. Texas A&M University, Department of Mechjanical Engineering, College Station, TX 77843

Laminar flow and heat transfer over a row of five (5) cylinders confined in channel is studied numerically. Stead two-dimensional governing equations are solved using a finite volume technique. Domain disrectization was carried out in body fitted coordinate system. Dependent variables were represented in terms of contra-variant variables. Pressure and velocity fields were linked by the SIMPLE algorithm. Solution to one-dimensional convection–diffusion equations was represented by power law. The grid independence was established.
